A journey is always fascinating to me. I always feel happy and excited when I see a new village or town or city or faces of new people. A journey, be it by bus or train, brings such excitement to me. Last month I got an opportunity to make a journey by bus. My friend named Rahim who lives in Jessore invited me to pay a visit to Jessore. I accepted the invitation warmly. Then, I made a journey by bus from Dhaka to Jessore. This journey gave me immense pleasure.

I confirmed my bus ticket two days before my departure. On 20 January 2018, I got upon a Dhaka-Benapole coach. It was to depart from one of its counters at Malibagh at 9 am.  So, I reached there 30 minutes earlier. A comfortable environment was preserved on the bus. It was kept neat and clean. The bus was very spacious and the seats were very comfortable. After a moment of departure, the supervisor of the bus turned on the TV. I enjoyed a comedy for a while which made me laugh a lot.

The bus started at a good speed but it had to face traffic jams here and there. The moment it left the busy city, I started enjoying the new things. I turned my eyes away from the TV and looked outside through the window. I saw some boys were playing here and there, cattle were grazing, and farmers were working on the land. I enjoyed vast green fields, meadows, orchards, greeneries, and trees on both sides of the road. Moreover, with the advancement of the day, the Sun goes up and mist melts. The day became sunny and warm.

Dhaka-Jessore Journey is to cross the mighty river, the Padma by ferry. So we had to cross it. To me, it added another dimension to my journey. Sometimes, sitting in a bus for a long time may be monotonous. A little break can help you get your energy back. The ferry provided us such a break. I saw small boats, steamers, river trucks plying on the calm and quiet water of the mighty river. Some hawkers and vendors were also seen shouting for their goods to sell. They were selling biscuits, bread, boiled eggs, banana, "chanachur", "muri", cigarettes, betel leaf, etc. I bought a bread and a banana. There was a gentle breeze on the ferry which was also giving much pleasure.

We the passengers also got onto the bus when our ferry reached Daulatdiaghat. Again I took my seat. Our bus now started running faster. It seemed that it accelerated its speed. We crossed some important places such as Rajbari, Faridpur, Magura, and Jhenaida on the way before we reached Jessore town at 4 Pm. My friend received me at the bus station.
