A bus stand is a busy place where buses stop and start from.  A good number of up and down buses touch the station at different times of the day and night. Generally, it is situated at the junction of the roads or beside a market. It is a temporary place for the passengers. There are a few big bus stands located in the district headquarters or in the big cities including the capital city. Besides these big bus stands, there are hundreds of bus stands scattered all over the country. People just wait there to get on the buses. Some bus stands have counters where passengers stand in a queue for buying tickets. It is a very noisy place. Constant shouts of the helpers, conductors, hawkers, and the speech of the common people are heard. Hawkers of different types are also seen there who sell newspapers, toys, fruit, betel leaves, cigarettes, bread, etc. some street baggers are also there who cry in loud voice with a view to drawing the passengers’ attention. Tea stalls are also found nearby. While waiting for the busses, many passengers go there and refresh themselves taking a cup of tea or coffee. When a bus enters a station, there is a usual bustle and hurry among the passengers. They push one another to get on it. At that time drivers and conductors remain busy. They shout loudly. Within a moment, the bus becomes crowded. Some anti-social activities also happen at this moment. Pickpockets, thieves, and swindlers try to take opportunity out of such a busy moment. They sometimes tend to misguide the innocent passengers for fulfilling their evil desires. In our country, bus stands play a significant role in communication. So, the authority should take proper actions for the improvement of a bus station.
