Deforestation means cutting down
trees on large scale. There are many reasons behind cutting down trees.
Bangladesh is a small country but it has a huge population in proportion to its
area. In order to find shelter, agricultural land, furniture, and fuel, people
cut down trees. Moreover, there are some people who cut trees in our forest for
money. The consequences of cutting trees are not unknown to us. It simply
causes ecological imbalance. Due to deforestation carbon-di-oxide is increasing worldwide. The result is global warming. Global warming leads to the rise of the sea level. At the same time, new areas of the world are turning into deserts as
a result of deforestation. Removal of trees also causes serious damage to the
soil. If we continue to do so, one day a major portion of our land will go
under the water and a significant portion will turn into desert. It will also cause
scarcity of rain which will harm our agricultural production. Authority should
take proper steps. In this regard, common people should be made aware of the
exact role of trees in our life. Authority should let them see how trees are our
best friend. Authority should also execute laws against those who violate the
laws.
