Democracy and Autocracy

Democracy and autocracy are two forms of government. In the democratic form of government, people are the ultimate source of power. They either directly rule the country or send their representatives through the election. People can oust their rulers through the next election if their representatives fail to fulfill their demands. Therefore, democratic leaders have to take people's interests into their consideration. On the other hand, in the autocratic form of governing system, real power rests on the rulers. People's wish completely depends on the wish of the rulers. Any activity against the ruler can receive the highest punishment. People's wishes, aspirations, and dream have to depend on the wish of the dictator. However, history says that if the autocratic ruler becomes a just and ideal one, he or she can establish peace and order in society and bring happiness and prosperity. Who does not know Elizabeth I, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Henry VIII? They were autocratic rulers, but they earned love and sympathy from their subjects. On the other hand, though democratic rulers have to work for their people, they may not be successful if they are not wise, dynamic, and visionary. Finally, we can say that a democratic system can be the better one because a weak and unwise democratic government can be removed through the next pool, but if an autocratic ruler becomes corrupt and unjust, people's misery will know no bounds because there is no way to oust him unless people revolt against him with weapons.
