Dear Jamal
It's been a long time since I last wrote to you. I hope you all are fine by the grace of the almighty. We're also alright.
To such a lover of cricket, describing our exciting match against Adamjee Cantonment College will be a matter of delight. The opposition won the toss and invited us to bat first. After the fall of two quick wickets, I came to bat. I along with another batsman started batting very cautiously. We two decided to play according to the merit of the balls. But suddenly, he got out. So, initially, our plan didn't work. Surely, uncertainty is a part of the game. By the way, I together with the next batsman resumed the plan. Our plan worked this time. After establishing a 50-run partnership, we decided to take calculative risks. I got out when the scoreboard was 110/4 in the 15th over. As we didn't have many overs left, our batsmen played with much freedom. They added 66 runs from the last five overs, managing to build a challenging total of 176/8.
After 10 minutes break, the opposition's openers came to bat. They played so brilliantly that all our efforts came in vain. They took only five overs to make an unbeaten 50-runs partnership. Then I called in a part-time bowler. He took the first wicket through his first delivery. Sometimes, a part-time bowler can generate an excellent delivery, but the batsman may not take the bowler seriously. Afterward, we took two more wickets in quick succession. This time they fell under pressure and started building another partnership by playing sensible cricket. They scored 120/4 in 14 overs as we managed to break their partnership. In the second spell, our opening bowlers bowled brilliantly and put the opposition under pressure by taking two important wickets. But they capitalized the 18th over and took 20 runs from it. The scoreboard was 160/6. The moment they were stealing the match, we managed to take a couple of wickets from two consecutive deliveries. When they needed 11 runs from the final over, their ninetieth wicket had to depart. However, the eleventh batsman hit one six and one four from the next two deliveries before the fall of his wicket. Their innings ended in 176/10 with two balls to spare, and the match ended in a tie.
As our run rate was better than the other teams, we reached the semi-final. I would like to invite you to enjoy the match which will be held on Friday at 3 pm.
No more today. More when you'll come to support us in the semi-final. Your presence will give me much encouragement. Convey my best regards to your parents and love to the youngers.

Yours ever,
Arup
