Once upon a time, there were a tortoise and a here who lived in a deep forest. The hare always felt proud of his quick movement. He used to ridicule the tortoise for his slow motion. The tortoise used to feel insulted and angry, but he didn't say anything.

One day, finding the tortoise on his way, the hare again laughed at the tortoise and said, "You move too slowly! Hurry up lest you should fail to reach your destination in time." On that day the tortoise couldn't stop his anger. "Let's run a race, and let others see who wins", the tortoise challenged the hare. The hare smilingly accepted the proposal. Both of them fixed a date for the race and invited other animals of the forest to be present in due time.

In the presence of other animals, they began the race on the appointed date. In the blink of an eye, the hare was out of sight. A moment later, the hare looked back to see how far the tortoise advanced. Finding no sight of the tortoise, the hare proudly said to himself, "Tortoise is too far! In the meantime, I can take some snacks and take a nap!" But he couldn't realize it when he fell into a deep sleep.

On the other hand, the tortoise was heading toward the destination slowly but steadily.  Suddenly, the hare woke up and looked back, but he couldn't see the tortoise. When he looked in front, he saw that the tortoise was very near the finishing line. The hare immediately started running as fast as he could, but it was too late for him to reach the tortoise.

After touching the finishing line, the tortoise looked back at the hare and smilingly said, "I hope that you've understood who wins: slow and steady wins the race."
