A village market is a place where the villagers buy and sell commodities necessary for their daily life. The market surely has many shops, but the maximum shops are made of bamboo or wood with thatched or tin-shed roofs. Besides, some shops sit under a big tree or on the bank of a river, or under the open sky. The shops that sit on the bank of the river or under the shadow of a big tree are temporary ones. When night falls, they are to leave these places with their commodities. These temporary shops generally sell fish, vegetables, fruits, betel leaves, curry, milk, and other local commodities. On the other hand, the permanent shops are the hubs of clothes, medicines, shoes, groceries, sweets, and other stationary items such as books, papers, pens, pencils, etc. The days of the village market are divided into 'hat' and 'bazaar'. Bazaar means the daily market. People assemble on a bazaar day to buy fish, vegetables, milk, meat, medicines, etc. that people need daily. On the contrary, 'hut' sits only once or twice a week. A 'hut' is very important for the villagers, because, on that day, the maximum number of buyers and sellers remain present with some rare commodities which are not available on 'bazaar' days. The sellers bring more items to sell. The volume of trade also goes high on this day. In general, on a 'hut' day, buyers buy rice, clothes, shoes, spices, salt, sugar, tea, toys, suitcase, and other fancy items. As a 'hut' day is a busy day, some anti-social activists take advantage of the business of the people. Therefore, pickpocketing, theft, and snatching also take place. Moreover, a village market is also an untidy, unhygienic, and noisy place. However, a village market not only fulfills the daily demands of the villagers but is also a place of socialization for the villagers. Villagers come to market, arrange meetings, and exchange and discuss ideas that are necessary for maintaining social relationships.
