Once a house became full of rats. The owner of the house had to fall into great trouble because the rats used to steal food, make holes here and there, bite the children, and spread diseases.
One day the owner of the house brought a cat to get rid of such pang and pain these rats used to create. In the presence of the cat, the rats couldn't move freely. When the cat came across any rat, the cat immediately made the unfortunate rat his meal. As a result, they had to limit their movement within the holes they made.
The rats managed to arrange a meeting to find out a way of getting rid of the cat's dominance over them. Some of them expressed their opinions, but the opinions were not convincing to the rest of them. Suddenly, one young rat stood up and said, "I have an excellent idea that can surely remove our sufferings." All the rats in the meeting became silent and curious to know the idea. Some of them jointly said, "please let us know your plan; we're desperately waiting to free ourselves from the tyranny of the cat."
"We can tie a bell around the neck of the cat", he proudly replied. "If we do so, we can easily locate the movement of the cat and so we can avoid him." The plan seemed to be very convincing to all the rats, and they praised him highly with thundering applause.
However, an old and wise cat stood up and said, "Can we find out one of us who will tie the bell around the neck of the cat?" They all look at one another but none dared to do it. Surely, it is easy to say but difficult to do. Finding no other option the rats had to leave their beloved house.
