A farmer is a very poor person. He hardly inherits a piece of land and a pair of bullocks. He gets up before sunrise and goes to his field very early in the morning. He works very hard on his land throughout the day. He remains occupied with various tasks such as plowing the land, enriching the soil, applying fertilizers to the crops, irrigating the fields, draining excess water, erecting fences, and removing weeds. In the evening time, he returns home. He takes his dinner very early and goes to bed very early. His life is very simple. By the way, his work is very tough. Sometimes, he is to work under rough weather, be it under scorching sun or heavy rain. Though he works hard, his joy knows no bounds when he yields good crops from his land. However, if he fails to yield good crops because of natural calamities, his sorrow knows no bounds. This loss pushes him to take loans with high interest from the usurers. If he fails to return the loans, he loses his inherited property. As a result, he is to work on other people's land. This is the predicament of thousands of farmers. As farmers play a vital role in running our national economy, the government should come forward to help our farmers. In his regard, if the government gives our farmers loans with little or no interest, our farmers will be able to change their lot by themselves. With the change in the fate of our farmers, our economy will also change.
